Meth (later opiates & cocaine) abuse in WW2 was widespread & extreme. Especially in Nazi military. Just watched video documentary: "Blitzed".

Knew Hitler was a heavy drug user per doc., "High Hitler", a few years ago. Had no idea - before today - how widespread & destructive it was, in all branches of their military AWA to a lesser extent in British & American forces:
