Read the Segall's 9/16/97 13D filing carefully and you will see that
they margined their BTIM stock to buy more BTIM stock by
exercising incentive stock options (for 21,000 shares at $9.22 a
share), as well as exercising BTIM rights they received (as did
other shareholders) in Feb. 1997.
The fact that the Segall's bought a few hundred thousand dollars
worth of BTIM stock in 1997 is extremely BULLISH!
In addition, according to the 13D, Mr. and Mrs. Segall "have
agreed not to sell any Common Shares of the Company while their
margin loans are secured by their Common Shares."
As you know, BTIM insiders are still buying! As indicated in the prior post, BTIM VP Hal Sternberg just filed an SEC Form 4 declaring he picked up another 3,000 shares at $16.125.
My personal view is that any shorts still in BTIM better have close stops or they will lose big.
