ADA revised position Feb 4 on hard tissue:

The data reviewed by the Council support the use of this laser system for removing tooth decay and preparing cavities in accessible small to moderate-sized lesions. The Council remains cautiously optimistic that the Er:YAG laser system may prove useful for other restorative procedures.
