I remain agnostic, but am swayed.

Whilst doing recoup, consider by background processing clock cycle the below series of e-mails
and make some guesses on how we might become more inflation-proof

Our company sells commercial equipment. I think Scottsman ice machine prices were raised four times last year and Henny Penny Fryers were raised twice. I'll check and see what they expect for this year.
Have had about six friends come down with covid in the past week. None hospitalized, none suffered more than a mild case of the flu and were back in action after 3-5 days.
I wonder how much hospitals are overwhelmed by the simple fact that they've been understaffed by their onerous mandates. It appears that some are backtracking simply because it is the only logical and sensible thing to do.

After 30 years, it is time to replace my HVAC system at home.
I had a guy out a few weeks ago for a bid. He said prices for the equipment are only good through the end of the year and a new price list will be coming soon for 2022. Normally, I would dismiss that as a shameless sales pitch. Under current circumstances, I believed him and ordered the units last year.

And let us not forget the companies that carry the stuff!

A great case for Cybercurrencies, silver, gold, etc. I think that gold & silver would be much higher nowadays if not for cybercurrencies. But pretty much every country has been printing, so I have been putting money into companies that mine, drill, etc. and still pay a dividend. BHP, OZ Minerals, Agnico Eagle Mines, Cenovus Energy, Antero Midstream, etc.

One will get us for sure. Not sure which
But funding false wealth growth with debt and low interest rates can not be good
And we see inflation everywhere. Scrap price for ships is 600+ / mt vs 350 -400/ mt which has been norm for long time.
I think we are truly see devaluation of currencies against real goods.
And ultimately next twist is when usd loses its sole place on top of perch.

My wife brought back Omicron from Florida after visiting her parents. She, like me is unvaxxed and we plan never to get vaxxed. Basically the common cold (almost identical symptoms). Was over in 5 days. Scratchy and sore throat, initial mild fever/chills, gave way to stuffy nose and slight cough I btw, never got it. Omicron contagious but mild. No biggie. Unlike Delta it lodges itself in the sinuses but never migrates to the lungs. Again just like a cold.
What's causing the hospital clog in NYC is fear porn propagated by the media & govts and dense populations. best to ignore whatever comes out.
BTW, I would encourage everyone to listen to the Rogan podcast with Dr Malone. Cuts through all the crap you'rebeing fed by the CDC/FDA/MSM/pols etc. I listened to the 90m-140m mark several times as there is so much info in there a mere simpleton like myself can't absorb it all in one go. open.spotify.com

The following is my NY email from a good friend. His son and daughter in law are both ER doctors in a major hospital group in SD. The son, Peter, never sounded the alarm throughout Delta, nor the original Covid. His emergency rooms were never stressed. As a matter of fact, I actually thought he was rather careless since he was frequently visiting his 85 yr old father the last couple of years, with 3 unvaccinated kids (too young) while he and his wife were on the front line.
For him to send this message is alarming to me.
Hi All: I’m sorry to start this year with bad news but I wanted to share some important information with all of you. Peter called for the sole purpose of warning us about the Omicron variant. He said his ER at Sharp Memorial has been overrun with people who have contracted Covid-19 because of this variant. Unfortunately, the vaccines do not appear to be effective at all against this variant other than to help with the severity if you contract it. However, even for those who are fully vaccinated and have received the booster shot, once your contract it, you still can get very sick, which is why the ER departments are being overrun. This, of course, also means that this risk is even greater for all of us for all the obvious reasons. Peter’s advice is to lay low for the next 2-3 weeks and not engage in any social activities or go out into the public unless absolutely necessary. This variant is so highly transmissible that people are becoming infected at an alarming rate and the number of new cases in California is rising at an unprecedented rate. He said he has never seen anything like this since he’s been in practice.

Drew: This whole fabrication gig has exposed me to different industry's than I'd normally interact with. A very good welder, a general contractor who's cheapest homes are over $1M, an HVAC company owner, a maker of 5axis mills, lathes and cnc plasmas, and a boat builder were at a party Saturday night, and each of them have tales of salespeople warning then to expect at least a freakin 40% increase in material, which is something of a real world confirmation material other than lumber is going up 30% on average across the board by February.
Same product; cost explosion. By time consumer sees it'll be 50% by mid year.... this won't impact the affluent. It'll destroy the middling down ensuring more separation.
And THAT is what this crew of elitists parading as "backing the common man" want.
Most of these costs will never come down again.
Harvey: We planned to start building a new home this Spring that we have saved for over much of a lifetime. Got three bids just before Christmas and the lowest was $622 per sqft. Not a typo and the land is already paid for. The architect's estimate was $250 per sqft on the high side when we signed the contract last Dec. Now we'll wait and hope for lower prices, look for other builders and/or de-scope. Let's Go Brandon. |
