I would also like to point out one big thing in our discussion of Trump vs. DeSantis.
I understand all the frustration with Trump and I have some myself.
We on this board are debating the finer points of the Trump Presidency.
Yes, there was plenty of room to improve.
However, most people are not as discerning and digging deep into the Trump vs. DeSantis debate.
The average person reasonably believes two things. 1. That the election was stolen from Trump. 2. Because it was stolen he deserves another chance.
Again, I'm not taking anything away from DeSantis. I believe he above all other potential candidates is the most qualified. His stock is continuing to rise.
I believe most people are happy to go with the "devil you know" mentality as it relates to Trump and I believe he will not make some of the same mistakes made the first time and will not have the same circumstances (especially if we win 100 seats in the house in 2022 and the Senate becomes in play). Neither of which he had in 2016. If this happens it will "drain the swamp" to an extent never seen before.
Now I agree that Trump needs to strike some kind of balance on the vaccines. I believe that he doesn't see that there are two groups diametrically opposed as it relates to the vaccine. Most of the 65+ crowd see the vaccine as a "life saver" and it allows them the chance to live life and see their grandchildren. The under 50 crowd see the vaccine as a "life taker" and they don't want anything to do with it.
Trump is over 70 and I believe this is an illustration of his narcissistic mentality. He doesn't want to let someone take credit for something "he" had a hand in creating. He needs to strike balance in his message which I don't believe he has done. He needs to say the vaccine was created by his WH for the over 70 crowd but for anyone else the vaccine is now being used to control you by the left and he doesn't support that.
He hasn't struck that balance and that rubs many people the wrong way (myself included).
Also, Trump is the personification around the world of an anti-globalist. DeSantis doesn't have parades in other countries. (Again, I'm not saying this is a a reason to vote for him, however he is being seen as a international "trust buster" like Teddy Roosevelt and the Bull Moose party was in 1910) I'm not saying he is a progressive like TR, but Trump is more like Andrew Jackson and Teddy Roosevelt than any other President in his un-orthodox manner in which he campaigned and dealt with opposition within his own party and the Democrats.
Trump has to decide whether he wants to be King or the King Maker for 2024, but he has the power, the backing, name, and international respect that DeSantis has none of right now.
Right now if Trump decides to back DeSantis I'm all for it, but let things play out.
Trump is no RINO. Rome wasn't built in a day.
All I can say is whether it is Trump or DeSantis both will make a great President IMHO.
Right now we need to work on getting as many grass roots Conservatives into as many political positions all the way from county dog catcher all the way to POTUS. This will be way more effective to the conservative cause than just the POTUS will ever be. The cause is more important than the man that represents the cause.
Just my view from my foxhole, and yours may differ.
