Zeuspaul,

It sounds like your having a com port conflict. Go to your control panel, open up "system", you'll see a list of small icons with names for the various hardware they represent. Go to "Ports (Com & LPT)" click on the + sign and you should see a list of the Com and LPT ports being using. Be careful here, you don't want to modify anything, yet.....

Back one step, see if you have a yellow ! next to the Port icon, if so you have a conflict or problem somewhere. If not open the + as I said and check the configuration of each Com and LPT port. You do this by "highlighting" each line representing a COM or LTP port. For example

Communications Port (COM1) - Highlight and select properties, then select resources.

Write down the settings, which will look like;

Interrupt Request 4
Input.Output Range 03F8 - 03FF

Do this for each line;

Communications Port (COM1)
Communications Port (COM2)
Printer Port (LPT1)
Printer Port (LTP2)
Modem, Sporster 56.6 (COM3)

These are examples, you may have more or less COM and LTP ports than I listed. Write the setting down for each, then try to re-install the Network Card and do this again. What your looking for is a conflict in the IRQ and IO setting.

If the error is not obvious and you can't easily figure it out, let me know what the readings are and I'll try to help you configure it.

If you see the ! yellow as soon as you get into to your settings, sometimes it easier to figure out what is causing it (modem, printer drivers, etc) and remove this and then reload the drivers. This in some cases will solve the problem.

Good luck
