The good news about Silicon is that it is fairly abundant on the planets surface.

28.2% of the Earth’s crust is Silicon at current estimates.

So making Polysilicon should not be a problem. It's like turning grain into flour, a straightforward process, and refining out the impurities.

Turning Polysilicon it into single crystal and then silicon chips is a sophisticated task like baking a a cake from flour, and the latest recipes take years to develop.

Building the four walls of a wafer fab, and plopping on a roof is maybe quick these days, but to come up with the most advanced tech can take decades of painstaking research & development. Those giggling at delays have no clue what real research and development is all about. imho. I am impressed with what has been achieved with tech over the last 20 years, but not impressed with what has been done with tech, not impressed at all. We have built a prison for humanity. Life sentance. Can it be turned around?

So, as is the "norm" these days, the newspaper article is nonsensical, and written no doubt to "talk up" market in a given sector.

Made some easy money in the 80's buying tech stocks while the newspapers were full of bad news, while it was apparent to anyone in the industry that things had turned around and the order books were filling fast. I remember the bs going on for months, if not years. Looks like an established feature of "financial news".

No doubt ice production will become "very difficult and expensive", if "they" have decided to invest in ice production.

So what’s going on at the South Pole? Nothing to see there, has it gone a bit chilly or is it just me?? -g-

I like sardines. Not in sunflower oil, but either spring water or olive oil. Still reasonably priced. Tomato sauce possibly. Grilled with some herbs and vinegar. Have a big stack of um.

We need to invest in clean sea water and fisheries. Lots to do there. I have the idea of a new concept of a "fish farm". It's called "Planet Earth.".Just clean it up and it does the rest by it'self. -g-

This should be a common sight, but disappearing fast. I suspect a number of utube movies are fake already. This one is circa 2015. Not seen the 2021 version yet.
