Okay guys lets all of us stop talking horse sense and start with what Joe suggested. We should be talking about new products from IDTI which can generate revenues for our horse. Talking about oats and honey is not going to take us any where. From March Issue of Byte magazine... Latest talk of the town is Web PC or Network Computer. As you all know Oracle unvealed it's version early this Jan. in Japan. According to Byte there are 4 key technologies which are must for success of this concept. 1. Fast Access:- ISDN or Cable Modems 2. Fast affordable microprocessors. 3. Platform Independent Langauges:- Java etc. 3. Light weight OSes:- Java based?? It's the second point which interests me. The magazine mentions that following are key players in this area. IDT R4640 NEC VR4300 Ultra-64 StrongARM IDT manufactures this 64bit RISC processors based on R4000 cores from MIPS. It's comparable to 100MHz pentium at 175 MIPS and costs only $28!!! In my opinion if this concept flys (and many companies are already licensing NC architecture from Oracle) then we all will be pleasantly surprised. I think my this year end IDT R4640 should be selling like hot cakes among vendors. I seriously feel that in next 5 years we will be seeing NCs every where from telephone booths to resturants and not just at corporations and at home. Imagine u can have a NC booth in place of phone booth which can do stuff like get faxes/mails etc. Guys wakeup and think seriously, I am very excited about this buisness area of IDTI.
