A friend of mine who sold his trucking form last year, is back in the US driving his rig and tells me all the truckers ran out DEF Diesel Emission Fluid, and when the trucks run out they go in max speed limp mode at 5 mph. Also the Emissions sensors are going bad, and they have run out.
The Cause? picking a fight with the major source of both China.
The DEF is about 34% Pure Urea, a key nitrogen source used in fertilizer, and China halted exports to the US and Australia.
It is made from coal gamification and Natural gas and Nitrogen.
The sensors are stuck off shore in containers who can not unload because the trucks are parked with no DEF fluid or sensors on the Pacific coast...
It would take 2-3 years to build and start up non Chinese non Russian supplies of Urea and with out it, US farmers have no Urea fertilizer.
It is kind of stupid to PO the hand that feeds you.
80,000 truck divers are useless with out sensors and DEF fluid,
Food prices will explode with the loss of fertilizer supplies from China, the worlds largest exporter, and climate change loss of predictable weather for planting timeline decisions, and loss of predictable non drought, non flood weather.
Also used in Fertilizer is Phosphate, that Tesla is going hijack for the next mass expansion of low end lithium batteries, LFP Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries due to shortages of Nickle and Cobalt.
Omicron is just the icing on the cake of this unfolding disaster.
