If only capital gains on main residence is untaxed in Canada, then different in HK, in that all on and off-shore capital gains on all assets are not taxable in HK. This is because we are ruled by iron-fist and deprived of freedom to pay tax when such ought to be due.

And to drive the point home, income from dividends, option premium, interest, gambling, buy anything from China or anywhere else and sell anywhere except HK of anything, ... gifts, etc are also not taxed.
