Locogringo,
Tenchusatsu, at least Asian Americans know how to get an ID.
Just recently I had to renew my driver's license, and at the same time, I had to renew my passport, which has expired.

It was quite a hassle, but I finally got both of them renewed, which is a good thing given how many places needed to see my ID.

By the way, I know plenty of elderly Asians who speak very broken English. They ALL have valid IDs. That includes everyone from naturalized citizens to permanent residents to temporary visa holders. Having proper documentation on them is a BFD, and to imply that they aren't able to because, you know, they're "not white" is insulting.
