Re: SBUX

Upon further review, I am considering trimming some shares of SBUX on Tuesday in the Young Folk Portfolio. A couple of stores have voted for unionization and a number of stores are now considering the same thing.

I know other industries can absorb the costs to the bottom line when it comes to unions but I'm not so sure a restaurant type business can. Unionization will require higher pricing of products and from my perspective, there's only so much a person will pay for a cup of coffee.

Perhaps SBUX will come up with other product lines with reasonable margins to help the bottom line and offset the cost of unions, or maybe they will be able to limit the number of stores that do.

In any event, SBUX is an overweight position in the YFP and I don't wish to sell it all. I think I will trim it back to a 1/2 sized position, keep it on dividend reinvestment and let it go from there.

Generally speaking, when I'm in doubt I get out. When it's only a concern, I cut it in half. Right now it is a concern for me.
