Thank God you managed to beat it. Sounds like you had a bad case.

Virtually all Hospitals are governmental entities - even the so called private ones. Nearly none of them could survive a month without federal funds. Back starting in the early 2000’s there was a big epidemic of hospital closures. AFAIK, the first to get shot down were the ones without strong political connections. And we know what that means.

All hospital outpatient care systems and the great variety of clinics and other primary care offices - all of them, where doctors work as employees - are quasi-socialist entities. Those MDs have to obey their policies and protocols - or quit.

I remember the days when employee MDs were not the rule - but the exception. Now, it’s close to the other way around… courtesy of Medicare, Medicaid - and “private” payers who follow their example. They destroy private practitioners - while making sweetheart deals with politically connected organizations.

The rule about doctors having a legal right to prescribe “off label” is a remnant of the days when Medicine was a free profession. Since the start of CoViD bureaucrats treat this law as if it doesn’t exist. They break it left and right.

Hospitals and other quasi-governmental entities will play ball with politicians - and will adjust their protocols to fit narratives of the day.

Private practitioners MDs - technically - still have the legal right to prescribe any medication that is legally on the market - “off label”. That doesn’t relieve them of the responsibility to provide quality care - in other words, when they prescribe off label, it’s their duty to do proper research - and to be reasonably confident that their treatment will help the patient - and not cause undue harm.

That’s what all doctors who prescribe meds like HCQ and IVM are doing. They are accepting the extra responsibility - in order to benefit the patients.

Bottom line - no, use of EUA vaccines doesn’t cancel the legal right to prescribe off label. Those two issues are not related. It would be different if the FDA actually approved those medications for the treatment of CoViD. Even then, I’m not sure if they don’t have vaccines and therapeutics in different categories.
