After Friday apparently "good looking" late afternoon recovery rally one would think we would be higher again today, but this kind of overnight decline doesn't confirm it... in fact, it nullifies it...

I think the killer is the record high margin debt which higher rates only aggravates...

Not to say this market will or must go down, but this kind of decline could get very ugly for those holding heavy long term positions on margin, and if these markets really begin to get hit hard, then more and more longer term margin position would likely want to sell out and take their gains before it all completely disappears...

Margin debt is in red in the chart below, look what happens to the SP when the debt reaches a certain point...
