but a little more slowly with 40% (by some accounts) share in the
sub-$1000 PC market. So AMD should probably stay the course for
a while longer. This is not reason enough to buy, only to hold or monitor.

CPQ and IBM (among others) want AMD to succeed. The PC manufacturers
have been constrained to a single source of supply for too long now. I think their business case for the -$1000 PC may be predicated in large part on this factor. Even Intel may not feel too imperiled by this if it hampers the viability of a (non-Intel) NC.
