Double your D3, not your distance.

The D3 will not hurt you. Sudden increases in distance walked can lead to injury or at the very least tiredness and ultimatley the desire to quit walking so much. Increases in D3 may lead to better health without even planning on it.

However, "Goooo Jaww" on the distance. Well done!

Get a short route you like. Do repeats. Up a hill, around a lake, through a park. Short distances can be timed and judged. Repeats allow you to accomplish a goal, and then push on farther, without risking running out of steam and being stranded far from home. The walk back is always a bitch on those ventures.

This weekend was the HURT 100. 5 Repeats of 20 miles each. I don't run it anymore, but the training for it defines my understanding of preparation for the remotely possible and the accomplishing it. It is a 36 hour race. My first two finishes were 35:55 and 35:40. My fastest loop was the last. I reached each aid station near the time limit. It took 4 months of training each year to just make it to the finish. Nothing happens immediately.
