Back quite a few decades ago. 1969, when this young whippersnapper was a boy scout, we had this ice fishing derby on a lake here in western Mass. All the scouts were eager to see who would win the $25 for the biggest fish caught.. All the adults did was drill the holes in the ice and then they went and sat by the fire drinking their "coffees" all day. We scouts spent the whole day freezing our butts off out on the ice waiting for a flag to pop. Not one flag went off and after about 6 hours, the adults decided to call it a day because they ran out of "coffee". As we were pulling up the flags, lo and behold I had this little perch on my line. I don't think it was even big enough to trip the flag; but I didn't care because I won the $25. What a fond memory for this 12 year old
