The majority of my portfolio has been in dividend growth stocks for > 10 years. These stocks tend to be significantly less volatile than the overall market, so option premiums are usually low. That said, I do try to improve performance by writing covered calls if I can find something worthwhile. I usually go 1-2 months out and usually >10% above current price. I will roll forward to avoid assignment, especially in taxable account. I have found the tech stocks to be better than most others: INTC, MSFT, QCOM are ones I have written covered calls against.
