Golfer, HIV is less lethal not because it mutated, but because two decades of research produced drugs that helped slow its advance.

Even then, a cure remains elusive. Same with a vaccine.

By the way, all around the world, there are 1.5M new HIV infections every year. Most of those new infections are in Africa.

Here in America, 1.2M people are living with HIV.
