I asked a Swedish friend about it.

“Lutfisk is Swedish
And lutefisk Norwegian

Basically all comes from Norway in a dried form. Hard flat like a board. You soak it in lye and salt water for a week until it swells up and when washed is really white or transparent and fluffy.

Serve boiled and with white gravy and spiced with ground allspice

Norwegian preparation described above as per my Norwegian grandmother. She was from Varoya in Lofoten, Westfjord.
