The solution to pollution by CO2 is as I described to my boss Nelson Cull of BP Oil International way back in 1984 = carbon tax with countervailing tax cuts on computers/Cyberspace/food or what have you, with dividend payments from the profits to pensioners so they could choose to drive and still be able to buy petrol, or walk/bus/share/stay home/move closer or whatever and keep the profits in their pockets.
After the ridiculous emissions trading scam has run for decades, the Greenies have come around to my idea as the better way to price the problem of the tragedy of the commons of Global Warming.
With my method, each country could just do it without worrying about other countries, and introduce tariffs on imports to price the CO2 pollution by overseas environmental barbarians.
I was not advocating such a carbon tax, as it was not, and is still not clear that CO2 emissions up to 500 ppm are more of a problem than a great benefit to plant growth in general and crops in particular, with reduced irrigation requirements enabling deserts to be infringed on where the rainfall is borderline.
Nearly 40 years later, I still think there is a great net benefit of free CO2 for crop growers and the greening of the world in general. The warming has not happened at all other than the end of the Little Ice Age which was already well underway at 280 ppm with only 1 degree C gain in a whole century of vast coal, oil, methane, peat, tars and limestone production. It's not at all clear that CO2 does give the claimed warming effect. The mid altitude troposphere heating didn't happen. The idea that children won't know what snow is is laughable in Syria, Florida and other normally warm places. Ottawa got a record half metre of the stuff a few days ago. Snow is all over the place in the northern hemisphere.
But of course where there is crazed mass hysteria, there's mega$loot to be made.
The ignorant public has come to believe the CO2 bullshit of 'The Settled Science' so they don't squawk too badly when they are robbed to pay those in on the vast swindle. They are also being robbed blind, and dead, by the Made in China [or USA] covid virus which has escaped, or been accidentally released, or I think deployed. Way back in the sars discussion of 2003 right here in SI, the danger of reconfigured viruses was explained by Henry Niman and discussed.
My innoculation design still seems a lot better than the mRNA vaccines which apparently destroy some 250 biillion ACE2 receptor cells out of total body count of some 37 triillion cells. With 2 doses and boosters 1, 2 and 3, the full vaxxing will destroy about 1 trillion, or 3% of a person's cells, and those are right there in the endothelium. It's not surprising that plenty of people get myocarditis and other vascular problems [bleeding/clotting].
It seems a bad idea to destroy so many cells in healthy people. Maybe in particularly vulnerable people it's worth it as covid kills.
There is still no programme where one can put in all one's data and get a probability of various damage up to death. There is only very general blather that being fat, old, diabetic, otherwise nearly dead or comorbid risky is bad. But nothing on blood vitamin D, A, C, zinc, lymphocytes, male, blood pressure, heart rate, white blood cell profiles, %body fat, etc, etc, etc etc..
After so many umpty million infections and deaths and outcomes, terabytes of epidemiological data should be able to give odds for each individual and recommend immediate treatment to reduce risks.
Aotearoa-Zimbabwe has now got Omicron version on the loose so midnight tonight the traffic lights go red. I have no idea what that means but the government introduced a traffic light system to replace the previous levels rules which I had a bit of an idea of what it meant thought they started bringing in decimal points such as level 3.2. I barely knew what level 4, 3, 2 meant. Level 1 was normal I think but maybe exluding overseas tourism.
