I didn't know MSFT 'sold' the hardware boxes, here I thought that Intel made 'motherboards' and DELL, Gateway, Compaq ( and a 'bunch' of others ) assembled the systems, choosing Windows as the operating system by 'popular' request!

Ken, you just haven't been following the news. This OEM thing is all a front, like the CIA-run Air America in Vietnam. You want proof?

"OEMs have to ship the machines the way we build them," [Microsoft corporate spokesman Mark] Murray said. "We give the OEMs a channel of their own. But we do give the consumer complete and total freedom to delete one or all channels." (from www5.zdnet.com ) Try to keep up, ok? Of course, consumers have the freedom to delete the OS and run something different too, but then they have to pay for 2.

Cheers, Dan.
