The US isn't going to fight for Ukraine. You could get a cold war out of this, but a hot war between the US and the rest of NATO against Russia is very unlikely unless Russia goes further then Ukraine. (Which itself is probably unlikely because even though Russia can very likely defeat the Ukrainian military they would likely be bogged down if they actually try to occupy the country, more likely might be grabbing some territory.)

Personally I think that its more likely than not that Russia won't undertake and open mass invasion of Ukraine. But that just means under 50 percent chance of such an invasion not an insignificantly small chance.
