George, thanks for the link. An excerpt from the ALR clustering overview, while they use FC to connect servers/storage, the following option is undesirable.

<<<To avoid interruptions from other systems, the ALR Cluster solution uses a "private" server to server network. Each server is equipped with a 100mb/sec Ethernet adapters. These adapters are then connected directly together. For performance and reliability reasons, no other systems are allowed to connect to this private network. >>>

When they only have 2 servers, this option is not much different from FC. When the number of servers grow, server 'A' will have a tough time communicating with server 'D' the same way it communicates with server 'B'(which connects directly with server 'A' via this Ethernet adapter.
