The irony is that it’s totally unnecessary. As Mq was saying for many years, it’s the spirit and momentum of Zbig Brzezinski theoretical thinking that still dominates our ruling circles and our State Dept. To Zbig, the unraveling of the USSR was a signal to kick Russia hard, and not stop until it submits - to never rise again. I think deep down, it’s racist - he must have thought Russians, as a tribe, are evil. But this mindset is accomplishing the opposite - they’ve become assertive and are pushing back. If Ukraine becomes truly independent - the winners will be the Ukrainian people. They could maintain good relationships - and trade and do business in every direction. Now, that the US controls them, NATO doesn’t even want them, and neither does the EU. US politicians treat them as a corrupt cash cow.
