I agree, I'm not sure why gay couples want to call their union marriage. They could come up with another term which would have the same meaning and be legally binding. This is one of many area's I see the gay rights movement falling on it's face. It's this in your face accept me attitude which turns allot of people off. I believe the State of Washington is attempting a proactive approach to this issue because gay couples are moving here from Hawaii and wanting to claim married status for state benefits. (I'm not sure what those benefits are though) Most people I believe today accept if a person is gay or not without much reservation. Basically they feel "hey if that's the way they want to live fine". Unfortunately marriage falls into that "in your face accept me area" We are having a tough enough time holding marriages together in society today without this type of intrusion into it's meaning. IMHO I could be in the minority opinion here though....:-) Go figure?? Michael
