I think the stupid SOB comment was telling.

Regarding that, Hunter is smart if he knows how the game is played and plays it.

Doocey is stupid if he doesn't know how the game is played but..... he's a stupid son of a bitch if he does know how the game is played but isn't playing.

I think I have that right, adding in the parenthetical that is implied but not said.
