Well-that's discouraging. Can't you argue with me? Because I felt really bad after writing that. It occurred to me that people might take it as a personal attack. And really it was just my frustration needing an outlet. While I'm sick of the Clinton sleaze, and have stayed away from getting into the debates, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a political being and have little interest in that stuff anyway, so am being maybe too harsh.
I do follow the posts of you guys though, and was intrigued by the secretarial debate between Holly and CGB. Asked Dan about his viewpoint because he's had many secretaries and is in a pretty high position with access to a lot of information that is confidential, and his secretary (an absolutely wonderful person and a loyal friend of many years) is certainly privy to a great deal.
He said he thought that there would be a huge difference between his secretary being asked to reveal facts about the business and being questioned about his personal life. There is no reason that a secretary should be bound by confidentiality regarding personal issues and he would never expect his to lie under any circumstances.
Of course, he probably has little to hide.
I think I tend to agree with Christine on this one-why should an employee be protected from revealing anything non-job-related about her boss? A priest, a psychiatrist, an attorney--their professions are based on confession, which is why they are exempt to a certain degree. A secretary's isn't and shouldn't be. It's a poor or stupid boss who allows that to happen.
Just my opinion.
