Had a fight for a halibut with a sea lion over in Gustavus. Reeled it up and the big bull got it at the last second. It was trying to pull it off the hook and take it, but its worn teeth wouldn't grip. With tension on the line and a threat by my VSO with an oar, it finally lost the grip. Right next to the skiff. It was pissed off. We had other lines tangled, so we couldn't motor away fast. It kept popping way up out of the water to look down into the skiff. It was HIS fish that we took. Finally got all the lines reeled in and motored a ways away, thinking he would not follow. Nope. There he was again. Much bigger than a bear, even a big grizzly. We motored far away that time. Nickenamed him SSS. Super Stealth Sealion. (We had a couple of excitable boys with us in the boat.)

VSO also touched a sleeping Monk seal in Hawaii on a beach. She thought it was dead. "ArrArr" - watch out!
Don't do things like that! What can you do.
