So far January has been almost a complete bust for new moisture except for those first 5 days of the month we have had very little additional moisture accumulate. So February is our next hope. Everything is green around here, the moisture has lingered around the central valley. Lots of fog in the mornings, the spring grass has come early. But the ominous lack of further rain after January 5th is starting to beat the drought drums. Water Resources gauge is stuck at 31.5 inches just as it was on January 5th.February is our new hope. The snow in the mountains has consolidated into a nice ice covered layer so it should hold for a few more months before sublimation gets the majority of it. We should have a reasonably good spring runoff.

We have two more traditionally high rain months coming. Fingers crossed if they will deliver. So far this is very La Nina like winter so far.
