This is Batman.

Remain calm, citizens.

Amots,

Thanks for the CFE encouragement.

Now I am going to fill you in on the real world, how to do real DD, how pros do it.

I have known for some time that the on-line EDGAR 144 page doesn't list all 144's filed (in fact, it lists very few of them). I haven't enquired why. I just use Bloomberg instead. In case you do not know, Bloomberg is a professional trading screen--you can rent one for about $1,000 per month in your own home. You can call the SEC however and get the full rundown that way.

Now I am going to give you a bag of sick. The following is a summary of the 144 filings made by See and crew last year from Bloomberg (the date is the date of the filing, not the date of the trades, which are spread over a number of days shortly before the filing date):

Jackie R See Sales of HVSF Common Stock

03-Feb-97 87,500
24-May-97 20,000

23-Apr-97 2,250
17-May-97 50,000

GRAND TOTAL: 564,700 shares sold by See and crew in 1997

Amots, that's 564,700 shares sold to the public by See. At, let's say, an average sales price of $7, that's somewhere north of $3.5 million that went from the public's hands into the pockets of See and crew. Enough said?

The 144 listings on Bloomberg even give the broker that the various parties used. See initially sold through Bear Stearns, but later switched to some beast called "ACAP Financial". Anybody on the thread heard of these people? Are they con men? Is it a bucket shop? I've never heard of them.

Call your broker tomorrow and he can confirm the above to you if you do not have a Bloomberg or Reuters terminal (Datastream, etc) in your home. If you would like to see the actual evidence, you can e-mail me your fax number, and I will fax you a copy of one of my Bloomberg printouts for one of See's sales of HVSF stock last year. Would the one confirming the sale at $9.50 ($95 in today's prices) be good enough for you?

Again, thanks for the encouragement on my Certified Fraud Examiner exams. There's no substitute for ability.

Batman
