Newbie, you are right, the study of time cycles is only one more tool to use, but I believe it is a valuable tool. I would suggest that the sources of the time cycles may also be the sources of the "unforseeable" events and that they may in fact be forseeable through the study of time cycles. And if a commodity or stock moves up or down according to predictable time cycles and then people make up reasons as to why the stock moved, which came first, the chicken or the egg??? Did it move due to "cosmic forces" (and hence changes in perception) or did it move due to the various reasons that we make up as we go along usually after the fact? And obviously the time cycles of one commodity can affect what happens to others and stocks that are related etc. The Foundation for the Study of Cycles is a very interesting organization which has some very good publications on time cycles. Time cycles analysis (I let the Foundation experts do the actual analysis, although anyone can get the tools and do it) has served me well over the years, and I just offer it up to those who may want to know more. Some people have devoted their entire careers to the study of time cycles in one area or another. Wall street is very aware of this field of study, although they usually don't like to admit it. Sounds too much like voodoo, so they practice the art behind closed doors. There may be some out there (watching/reading) who know what I am talking about.....
