Humans are in the process of creating a paradigm shift in life on Gaia. Only 100,000 years ago, humans were doing nothing much more than animals. But in the last 10,000 years the selection and evolutionary process has given us lift off from the animal world.

No. For a start, sheep numbers would drop and they'd have to start worrying about predators eating their young. People are awesome. None of the other thousand species will deflect asteroids, or mine oil or limestone, and keep CO2 up high enough, or do genetiic engineering [other than their normal mating and fighting and survival processes].
