John,
Post 89 ! those were the days. It costs much less money to start up an alluvial operation,a dredge a pipeline, sorters etc. and you are in business, so to speak. No shaft, hoist, access ramp to install,no drilling and blasting in sterile overburden etc. My friend the geologist has experience in gold and base metals, since he has worked exclusively in North America, where there is not much of a diamond "tradition",untill recently. I was very optimistic regarding the future of STS in the days of post 89 ,lost a bundle, learned a lot.Changed my way of speculating quite a bit, learned a few things about "pumping and dumping and storytelling "... The overwhelming majority of these "managers" are not even interested in operating a mine,it is a LOT easier to pump and dump than to ope- rate a mine,be it gold, base metals, diamonds ,this is one of the most difficult businesses to operate, especially in a foreign country.
Good speculating,
