Doren, I disagree that Rhapsody is becoming more important. I've been following & investing in Apple primarily because of Rhapsody's potential but in the last several months we're beginning to see strategic alignments that may leave Rhapsody out in the cold.

Although Intel's Merced is set for high end servers and workstations next year, Intel obviously would like to move it onto the desktop sooner rather than later. It's 64 bit massively parallel processing would put it substantially ahead of any competition. The key is to have an operating system that takes advantage of it. The rumors are that Intel has told Microsoft that a delay such as that from 16 to 32 bit is unacceptable and Microsoft has continually stated that they will have an OS ready to go upon the chips launch. But rumor also has it that Microsoft is having trouble. Hence there recent closer ties with Digital and their interest in Digital's Unix OS. Meanwhile Intel has in order to hedge their bets made a strategic alliance with Sun for their Solaris OS. Originally I thought either Microsoft or Intel would make some sort of alliance with Apple for Rhapsody but that doesn't appear to be the case presently. Things could change but right now I'm more pessimistic than previously that Rhapsody will play a major role in the Merced transition.
