6 New Revelations From The John Durham Spygate Probe

By: Margot Cleveland

thefederalist.com

Summary:

  • Michael Sussmann (partner at Hillary Clinton's campaign law firm Perkins Coie) has been indicted and is subject of an active, ongoing criminal investigation not limited to the offense charged in the indictment.
  • Marc Elias (also partner at Perkins Coie) was questioned by a grand jury
  • Attorneys are normally exempt from grand juries (attorney client privilege). So, Durham must have used the "crime-fraud exception" to compel testimony. The crime-fraud exception provides that attorney-client privilege ends if a client seeks advice from an attorney to plan or commit a crime.

And then the bombshells at the end:
  • Sussmann met with the inspector general in 2017
  • IG kept this meeting secret from Durham
  • IG falsely claimed that there was no “further documentation”
  • Sussmann was spying on the IG's computers
