You could also look at statistics like cancer incidence rates, if you just want to look at one variable. Or you could look at infant mortality rates. Or maternal mortality rates. Or life expectancy. Or incidence of chronic diseases. There are many variables to look at when judging a country's medical system. On cost, the US is far and away the highest.

You always choose cancer as your marker. That is a very narrow perspective. Here is a chart of cancer rates by country. And I won't just make assertions, I will include the URL:
