I spent years on the Obamacare thread. I've read all that stuff and more more than a decade ago. The piece you linked looks to be a pretty good one. But none of it gets at the essence, seems to me. They make a moral case, as this one does, that there's a right, but I don't know where that fits into our constitution. Not sure it does. Nowhere in out founding documents are we accorded positive rights. I'd like to see that question discussed and vetted, not just asserted. They also make economic arguments, a lot of them addressing national as well as personal interests, but advocacy pieces are always cherry picked. I have never seen one seriously address externalities. And they're all either advocacy pieces, inherently biased, or they're hit pieces. Not at all satisfying. I'd like to see something that starts from the default, which is the status quo, not a rationalized design of some vision.
