Ignacio, I too would not want to think that people have to live for the public eye--in glass houses--and I do realize the monstrosity of that. I certainly would not be following a public figure around trying to determine whether he had a mistress, for example, because his private sexual life is none of my business and does not really impact on his ability to lead.
I know you are European, and have perhaps a different understanding of amore than we do here. I think in the case of Mr. Clinton, Europeans may not exactly understand the workplace laws we have, or the serious nature of lying under oath or tampering with witnesses. I think the scandal is being glibly portrayed as a sex scandal, in other words, when it is something more. We will have to wait and see what is the truth.
I enjoy discussing things with Freddy. I would say that he is very bright, but more conservative and religious than I am, and is protective of some of his personally held positions in ways that make his arguments less than totally a logical search for the truth. I am sure he would disagree with me on that, though!!! But our fights are just intellectual squirmishes, which I think we both find stimulating, and the feigned hostility certainly does not reflect the underlying respect I have for him.
Ha ha!! Janice is a symbol of everything that is wrong, period!! She must hold some kind of a record for the most highly educated, but unproductive, person anywhere. I have asked her not to post to me, or about me, because she is incredibly rude, bitter and irrelevant, and manages to say very little which could be called intelligible, but still she somehow considers it part of her role in life to follow me everywhere I go at SI making senseless, mindless comments about nothing. |
