So different from here in Canada, where health insurance, paid through our taxes, is seen as part of the social contract.

It could conceivably be framed as national interest in the US, which at the street level would amount to the same thing once everybody got used to it. Framing it as a right, though, is iffy. There's that pesky Constitution. And all those hardy individualists.

It would be an misapprehension to see my views as representative... <g>

In Canada, do you have a legal obligation to tend to someone who collapses on the sidewalk as you pass or floats by your door during a flood?
