On a % basis it's 18.5% above the previous 10 yr. avg. It will be the category to watch this year. 8 - 9.9 - 10 yr. avg (2011 - 2020) = 1 2021 up 3x --- In itself may be seen as an outlier year. Or not... 7.0 to 7.9 - 10 yr. avg (2011 - 2020) = 13.5 2021 up 18.5% . 6 - 6.9 avg = 129 2021 up 9.3% . 5 - 5.9 avg = 1595.6 2021 up 28% Total 2021 quakes are 2nd highest in 11 yrs. Are earthquakes increasing? One could say yes.
