Re: Old Folk Portfolio -- Add On Buys

Today I added to the following positions:

Equities -- APD .. CM .. RY .. TGT .. AMGN .. LEG .. UL .. GD

CEF's -- TYG .. IGA
--------------

APD is a quality industrial company and when I see industrials have 20% corrections, I like to buy those dips.

CM and RY are Canadian banks and during inflationary times, financials usually perform well. I expect these banks to rise along with the rest of the financial sector.

TGT has been performing incredibly well and I posted some information on their growth potential in an earlier comment here in this thread yesterday.

AMGN came out and beat both earnings and revenue expectations and the market reacted favorably to that. I bought the gap at the open and AMGN is already up 8% on the day.

LEG also beat earnings and revenue expectations, a sign of strength, and I like buying strength.

UL has picked up an activist investor who is looking to shake things up in order to get UL to grow their business more. They are on the lookout for an acquisition, or the company might divest under-performing products and become more focused. UL might even be getting a new CEO. The market has reacted favorably to the news over the past week and this was part of multiple purchases since the news broke.

GD was added to while the valuations are still reasonable.
