While everyone is in the mood to play "what if" allow me to throw this possibility into the game.

What if the y2k problem cannot be fixed in time to prevent a collapse of the banking and financial institutions?? Even a small amount of corrupt data can bring down the entire system.
Y2K reporter Bruce Tippery has reported that recently the Chairman of the SEC, Arthur Levitt, sent an urgent letter to all registered investment advisors reminding them that U.S. Securities laws require that they begin discussing Y2K issues with all f their clients. It is expected that brokers will begin to comply by mid-1998. Will this cause investors to think about taking their assets out of stocks, bonds etc??? Will the the Government begin to mandate Y2K awareness in 1998?? Are we looking at public panic within 6 months??? Count Gold
How does a stock market investor protect his/herself??? Is it wise to request certificates for ones core holdings???
