There is a 13% chance of a surprise rate hike tomorrow, weekly op-ex. That would be chaos.

There is a 30% chance of a surprise rate hike by the end of February according to Fed Funds Futures.

The high inflation numbers are triggering calls for a Volker-ish response.

It's so ridic that people blame inflation on the executive branch. Other than Nixon and Ford, I can't think of anyone in the Oval office who has been responsible for inflation since the 70's. It's the Fed, not the person in the big chair, who holds sway over the business cycle. They have the power to take away the punch bowl at any time.
