The Sacklers bribed the FDA into approving opiods for general use around 1997 and then spread lies about their safety to every medical professional in the US using bogus studies, bogus data, and bribery.

Before the FDA approved opiods for general use, there was no opiod crisis. The Sacklers were directly responsible for this, and it was only because of their greed that this happened. They do bear responsibility.
