Another thing - many millions of Russians have Ukrainian last names, and vs versa. The religion and language being the same, especially in the Eastern portions of Ukraine, intermarriage was - always - simply the norm. People never gave it a moment's thought. And they come from the same old tribes. That’s another reason a bloody war between the two countries is unthinkable. People live in theoretical constructs, in big ideas, not in the real world. No one talks about this. Normalcy is too normal. Does not sell clicks.
