John, sometime ago, maybe as long as 18 - 20 months, we had a contributor, using the moniker, "Deciduous Le Gump" (or something similar). It appeared that he was regarded by several regular SI contributors as quite knowledgeable concerning digital compression technology.

At any rate in at least one or most posts, he appeared to downplay the importance of MPEG-4. It seems that he regarded MPEG-4 as a non-event and that any notion that MPEG-4 would play any real role or otherwise be a factor in the digital video compression business was not correct.

Has this changed? Is MPEG-4 in CUBE's future? In the best of all possible worlds, in what form will MPEG-4 exist and will CUBE retain its leadership in this market?

Thanks,

Dave R.
