LIndyBill never agreed with me, but I think Spengler was right when he called for a Manhattan project -style combined private-public program to bring us up to par technologically - with 5G, weaponry, etc. It’s possible that it would help refocus the nation - and the Western world in general. New ideas and technologies could be used by private businesses - which could introduce new ways of doing business. It could rejuvenate the country - simplify, deregulate.

I think with any government system, given enough time, over the generations - the ruling classes degenerate into Oligarchies - which, given some more time, will become bureaucratic, infinitely complicated and unmanageable. What they used to call Byzathian. We see this happening all over the formerly free world.

A shakeup, at some point, becomes inevitable. It is going to happen. Trump introduced the idea, but there is still a long way to go. Reagan tried to inspire the nation with a vision of a City on the Hill. The challenge for a modern nation, with an educated population is whether to do it deliberately, in an organized, planned way — or via a long period when it will feel like we simply cannot do anything right.

Maybe an organized national effort in order to solve real problems could serve as a catalyst.
