If I heard right, Russia recognized the Donbas states' sovereignty. The Kenyan speech posted earlier pointed out how borders drawn without recognizing preexisting cultural differences by region didn't work out so well for some African groups. Seems like a similar situation existed in Ukraine. Unless I hear differently, it seems like a decent outcome.

Not sure why WWIII would be started by it. Seems more likely to start in Canada, the way things are going. Maybe New Zealand and Australia too, before it comes to the USA or Russia.

USA has the Republic and the Republicans. Russia appears to have a leader who is a Christian. Maybe a cutthroat type, but I'm not going to worry about him more than the crazy atheists who are trying to control the world in the name of their new religion of whatever flavor of the week it is.

It is starting to look like Democracy is a very empty word. A Republic with a set of ground rules is the way to go. That, and a proper fear of the Republic for which it stands - the citizens. That fear is ramping up, so we will soon see if they can follow the ground rules or go total bananas like Trudeau and his jackboots.
