"What "designs" did Moscow, i.e. Vladimir Putin, have on Ukraine? There have only been 2 things that President Vladimir Putin has ever wanted from the "West" and NATO members :- (1) Ukraine MUST abide by her OBLIGATIONS contained in the MINSK AGREEMENT, and (2) No further expansion of NATO Eastwards, since the Security of One State cannot be done at the expense of another State"
And the "World" has recently seen that Russia has never "INVADED" the country of Ukraine IN ITS ENTIRETY, despite the "West" setting several "Invasion Dates" !!!
All that Russia has done in that regard is to recognize the autonomy of the two breakaway states of the Donetsk and Luhansk, and has thereby offered these two states her assistance should they require it due to any military threat from "third parties".
In addition, Vladimir Putin has demanded that the "West" puts INTO WRITING that there will be no more NATO expansion Eastwards. Russia has, in the past, been promised VERBALLY by the "West" that NATO would not expand further East. And those promises were made when NATO was FURTHER WEST than they are now !!!
So Russia now wants NO MORE empty, unsubstantiated Verbal promises, she wants it IN WRITING. |
